The old bridge

Bosnia Mostar

Mostar is an enchanting city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for the iconic old bridge Stari Most and its rich history as a meeting place for different cultures and religions. The picturesque city, located in a beautiful valley divided by the emerald green Neretva River, offers a unique and memorable experience. In this area we visit the smaller but crystal clear Buna River and head up into the upper reaches of the Neretva to hunt for the mythical soft-mouthed trout!

In this area we take an evening where we visit the old town which is a must and have dinner in an absolutely fantastic setting next to the old bridge.

The beautyful

Neretva

The Neretva River is best described as a "Divine Flowing" - a magnificent and natural force whose emerald green waters cut through dramatic landscapes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. This majestic river is known for its exceptional beauty, crystal clear water and extremely cold temperatures, which are beneficial for the fish.

The Neretva begins at an altitude of over 1000 meters and winds through an incredible environment. When it reaches the lower parts of the canyon and that's where our fishing begins. The river has a wide variety of species such as grayling, big trout, fighting rainbows and even marble trout are found here.
The soft-mouthed trout that lives in few places can be found here and is considered a trophy!

Buna

The Buna River is a remarkable river, known above all for its dramatic source, Vrelo Bune, near the village of Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This place is often described as a fantastic union of nature and architecture. Here is a description of Buna's unique features. Buna springs out of a large cave at the foot of a steep, 200-meter-high limestone cliff with an exceptionally strong source. The source is one of the largest in Europe in terms of water flow.

This river has one of the richest insect life we have seen! Incredible amounts of dragonflies and various mayflies! When it starts to wake up, you can hardly believe your eyes! The river has a rich population of absolutely fantastic rainbows and here you can also find the soft-mouthed trout. Even big chubs like to stand and watch in the backwaters which is a fun bonus!

Lodges

We choose, as we do at our other destinations, accommodation with great care. For us it is important that it is comfortable accommodation with good food and close to our fishing waters. Nice fishing is important but also nice accommodation is equally important. We will stay in exclusive accommodation near both the Buna River and the Neretva River. The food in this region is magical and an experience in itself.
